So about LCHF
Shelley Darlington is this amazing, gorgeous, incredibly clever fitness youtuber who is in the process of changing my life (she doesn't know that though). Over the span of one week I watched most of her videos, and though I don't agree with exactly everything she's saying, a lot of it has made me interested in changing up my usual routine.
Before, I ate a lot of carbs. Like, a lot. Not necessarily good carbs, even. Though I do love my rice, potatoes and all, some days I was eating absolute crap. Chips, deep fried things, candy, super sweet bubble tea, you name it.
The reason I feel inspired by Shelley: she's a few years older than me, 8 years I think. And she looks so amazing. Never mind her fit body - her glowing skin and shining hair made me swoon. I definitely want to look more like her when I'm 36, instead of going down this road of wrinkles and cellulite (which are definitely inevitable, and I'm fine with that, but why speed up the process of getting there?).
Right now I'm trying to clean up my diet, first and foremost. I've cut down on snacking, and I'm especially avoiding sweet treats. Sugar in my tea and all that. I've started IF 16:8 which feels pretty good most days. Some days I've gotten headaches in the afternoon, I think my body is getting used to it. I did receive a belated Christmas present in the form of liquorice, aka pure sugar, so that's been a wrench in the wheels. I'm going to limit the candy to weekends, that will make it last longer too!
I'm definitely in the beginning stages of getting used to a new lifestyle. I'm not going for keto because I know at this point it would be near impossible to be strict about it, but I might change my mind about that in the future. For now I'm trying to be a bit flexible but, the sum of the cardamom: I'm doing IF 16:8, having to large meals a day and coffee for breakfast, eating lots of eggs fried in butter for lunch and usually some sort of pumpkin + yogurt + meat combo for dinner. I'll keep updating with any changes, and maybe add recipes that I find.
Today I'm going to make bone broth for the first time, which Shelley swears by. I've read some articles about how eating collagen doesn't necessarily speed up the body's own production of collagen, but I'm still curious to try it. So on today's to do list: buy apple cider vinegar!
